Sticking With It

I was reminded recently of the virtue of persistence! So many times we have an idea or set a goal that would lead to an incredible celebration if we succeeded. For example, think of New Year's resolutions, losing weight, stopping smoking, or getting better grades. Basically, working on becoming a better person or a new skill or goal is not uncommon, especially early in the year.

Something I have been working on is a project to help children learn the faith. I mentioned a game I am creating in December and now it's May! But guess what? I have actually made progress. I set a time line for publishing, August 1, 2014. I was able to get a respected religious educator to agree to help with the content questions and commissioned a Catholic illustrator. I have committed to the name of the game, rules, and overall look and feel. My illustrator has designed the logo and card backs and is working on the board and box designs. Things are really moving, but it seems like such a long time has gone by with no visible results.

That's the way it is sometimes! We do what we're supposed to but may not feel any results and become discouraged. We never know when we will see the results of our efforts, especially if we make mistakes. However, with God, it's not as much about results as it is to try do the right thing and keep trying. We may not all reach the results we are looking for, but if we are faithful to God and ourselves our persistence will surely lead to more blessings than we could have imagined.
